How Does Your School Claim Approved Funds?

ECF Requests for Reimbursement can be processed by the school or an ECF Authorized Supplier. As an Authorized ECF Supplier, Sonic Device Repair can provide a custom quote billable to ECF. Once the Vendor SPIN and device model updated is approved thru ECF Post-Commitment Request, Sonic Device Repair will deliver the devices at no cost to the school. Once devices are delivered, Sonic Device Repair will file for reimbursement thru ECF.

ECF vs. E-Rate?

ECF stands for Emergency Connectivity Fund, which is a federal program in the United States designed to help schools and libraries provide internet connectivity and devices to students, staff, and patrons who lack adequate access. It was established to address the digital divide exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic.

E-Rate, on the other hand, refers to the schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund, administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). E-Rate provides discounts on telecommunications services, internet access, and internal connections to eligible school and libraries to ensure affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services. It has information services. It has been instrumental in helping educational institutions across the country bridge the digital divide and enhance learning opportunities for students.

What is Post Commitment?

Post Commitment refers to actions taken after a funding request has been approved and committed by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). In the context of the Emergency Connectivity Fund(ECF), a Post Commitment Request involves initiating changes or updates to the details of the approved funding request through the ECF Web Portal. These post-commitment requests may include various actions such as changing service or equipment associated with the funding request (service substitution), changing service providers, adjusting service start or end dates, canceling a committed request, reducing funding amounts, updating identification numbers or registration information, updating invoicing methods, or modifying FCC Form 471 unmet needs responses (applicable to schools). To initiate a post commitment request, the school or an appointed USAC grant officer must submit an ECF Post-Commitment Request Form through the ECF Web Portal. Additionally, complementary consultation for the submission of Post Commitment Requests(PCR) is available with a Sonic Device Repair Account Manager.

How long does a Post Commitment request take to process?

The entire post commitment review takes about 15-30 days.
